Campus & Community Planning’s Beautify My Bike Cage mural contest animates bike cages and celebrates cycling at UBC.
The theme of the 2017 contest was cycling, health and wellbeing. Shavonne Yu’s winning design draws parallels between the intricacies of the humble bike and the dire need for systems thinking in communities.
Powered by hydro, wind, and solar energy, the bike in the mural represents an optimistic vision of UBC’s future, propelling itself towards a more sustainable, interconnected future. Shavonne is currently a second year Media Studies student at UBC.
